I shouldn’t have found Rhys Walker attractive. Not that he wasn’t handsome. From a strictly observational viewpoint, he was the hottest man I’d ever seen.

Tattoos, sexy hair, dimpled smiles? Check, check, and the biggest check. Beyond that, he had a wicked charm that made me giddy and a dominant streak I couldn’t help but obey.

And believe me, I’d tried to fight it since he was also completely off-limits.

Not because he was too old, too controlling, or any of the other BS he claimed. He was in danger, and he didn’t want me in the crosshairs. Bullets, bricks, rumors, tempers—they were all flying. And as the undercover detective posing as his girlfriend, it was up to me to keep him safe.

A job that would be a whole lot easier if his fake kisses didn’t ignite my body in a very real way.

For the first time in my life, I didn’t care about the rules. Rhys saw me like no one else has. In return, I healed something in him that he’d sworn was permanently broken, giving him peace in the midst of chaos.
